Aircraft work within an envelope. You can model what a max speed/min speed max/climb min climb/ trajectory is and work that in. It's a solvable problem. Aircraft can't go from 200-0 knots or 0-200 knots instantly etc
If fast, reliable, cheap internet worldwide is a "minor" gain what's a major gain? Fusion power? Teleportation? Dyson Spheres?
It is at the moment as it’s doing energy arbitrage and needs to know the current energy prices.I believe you also get more warranty if you have it connected to the internet as they can fix bugs etc remotely. But the PW isn’t mission critical.
I also have an off grid cabin with a Victron inverter that is not on the Internet and never will be.
It’s a bit more sophisticated than that. On a mild sunny day your local network will be saturated with PV power and the supply voltage will creep up. It’s an enforced regulation here (Aus) that the inverters will curtail/shut down based on grid over voltage. No networking required.
There are US manufacturers. I have a Tesla PW3 made in the U.S. and it includes solar charge controllers, batteries and inverter.

But the point was the industry that I’m in runs on them because the teams you’re communicating with are in the field and supervising construction not in front of a computer.
These are young engineers who need to build experience and relationships with the site teams and text messages aren’t going to build them.
I used to manage a team of 12 young interns and graduates. They almost all hated emails and hated making calls. They would always default to messaging/Teams/etc. I spent a lot of time coaching people on how to make calls, why etc. It was a construction adjacent industry and sometimes it HAS To be a phonecall.

Based on the vagueness of the response (which law in particular, what are the details etc) I’d argue they won’t delete anything ever and claim that they thought they might run afoul of some law.

I assume the cars with active telemetry have a SIM card of some description. You could remove it/disable it but you'd lose app access and remote control features. I know of people doing this in Toyotas.

I have a xaiomi mi band 9. The body to screen ratio is roughly the same as the Apple Watch. It does HR tracking, workouts, has excellent 1000 night brightness, weather, notifications etc. I get about 15 days from a charge. They say I can get 21. But either way. I understand the Apple Watch is running better hardware and more things in the background, but there’s also significantly more space in the watch for battery. It might be doing more but a factor of 15x is a crazy differential.
If you click on battery health in settings it will literally set up a link to request the replacement service, very minimal friction.

Your energy bill has a fixed daily rate to be connected to the grid. That pays for poles and wires, maintenance etc. To oversimplify a bit there’s also your cost per kWh to buy energy and to sell it. Someone using their own PV system during the day and buying from the grid at night isn’t “free riding” like you think. The connection is paid for by the fixed connection fee.

You’re a bit confused here. A Subaru is AWD, and essentially has 3 diffs. Centre, front and rear. A Tacoma has 2 diffs. And a transfer case in the middle. A transfer case acts like a locked centre diff when engaged in 4wd, otherwise only sends power to the rear diff. When 4x4 people talk about locking diffs they mean a locking front and or rear diff.
Something like a wrangler rubicon or a G-class would have a locking front and rear from factory which is rare. Transfer case and locking rear isn’t particularly unusual in an offroad vehicle.

Essentially because nobody was allowed to trim/maintain the trees due to it being a natural habitat. It's nice to look at but when a 60m tree falls in a storm and wipes out your house it's not great. The reserve was also on the north side of the property and down here in the southern hemisphere that means that every year as the trees grow your house gets more and more shade with accompanying maintenance issues.
I should add that people may weigh that up and be happy to live there, but people should be aware of the risk/benefits before they buy. Natural light/property orientation and shading is a major issue that most people forget about.
Depending where you live local/state/fed government will keep maps.
Topographic maps, flood risk maps, wildfire risk maps, maps of services nearby (substations, transformer locations, storm drains etc), easements, special planning/protection zones, surrounding area zoning etc.
These should all inform your decision. I've vetoed houses because they back onto nature/wildlife reserves, are too near substations, are in flood risk areas etc

The above just sound like outlying bad examples of millions of humans in stressful situations, many times every day.
What? I think the point here is not that minefields don't exist it's that there's a huge jump from wanting kids to play outside to having them play in a minefield. There's plenty of Ukraine left that ISN'T a minefield.
