We built this last weekend because we love interesting talks and presentations and thought there should be a centralized place to find them.

1st) This is great. Thank you for making it.

2nd)

The vote-based front page is good for recent/topical/randomly suggested videos. But, very quickly you will be indexing such a vast number of vids that the primary purpose of your site will be a searchable archive. The dozen or so vids linked on the first few pages won't even scratch the surface of the ocean of valuable material you are indexing.

So, I'm hoping you put your focus on discovery rather than discussion. Discussing a few dozen vids is nice and keeps things fresh. But, tagging, rating, describing, recommending, searching sorting are the important features to me.

Basically, I watch a ton of these vids because I have interests that they can educate me on. There is so much material out there that the odds of the best material about whatever I'm interested in at the moment being on the front page is minuscule. But, I bet it's in there somewhere! And, I bet there is also enough related material to keep me digging down through branches of interest for years. If only I could find it...

We definitely agree that discovery should be a top priority and we want to address that ASAP.
