TL;DR... Most important reason that this is a good thing for Bitcoin:

Since Greenpeace does not accept government support, individual donations are of paramount importance in the fight for pollution control, nuclear arms control and wildlife protection. Bitcoin and Greenpeace go together as a terrific pair, with a similar goal

Also interesting in regards to Bitcoin donations: "Greenpeace, Inc. is a non-profit, tax-exempt, 501(c)(4) organization. Donations to Greenpeace, Inc. are not tax-deductible."
