Ask HN: How can a Software Engineer find design inspiration?

I am a Junior Software Engineer building personal projects for experience; mostly web applications. I have been trying to design attributes with photoshop for my projects but fail to find real inspiration that works. I have followed the hackdesign.org course a little but yet to find my "creative design side".

Has any developers or engineers run into this as well?
