Is it old-fashioned, too time-consuming to be effective or a new way of shedding a light on how to fall in love with your next travel destination?

By old-fashioned, I mean is it worth to invest money in video advertising on the web when social media are cheaper to manage and n# times more effective (in the end, it becomes word of mouth marketing)?

By time-consuming, I was aiming at something like this. If a hotel orders a video shoot of their premises, rooms, services and the video gets to be 15-20 minutes long (the manager wants it to show everything), who is going to watch it entirely when Tripadvisor, photos on the hotel's website and reviews can build up a picture in customer's mind to answer the question: "Should I book it or not?"

Video is still the most sophisticated method highly functional holograms [4th step] are still hiding in the future or in some Star Trek set; video is the third step, the previous two being text and photographs) of presenting a lot of information in the most mind-friendliest and fun way there is.

So, will there be a video renaissance of some kind or is web video advertising just too incompatible with our ever faster way of life? There is also a tird option - I'm talking rubbish, but please don't make it so obvious if that's the truth when writing comments.
