Just for posterity, since this didn't take off: I'm posting this because it's age verification that you can't opt out of. My read here is that if Google's AI thinks you're underage for whatever reason, it nerfs your account into a "kid mode", and the only way to revert your account to adult mode is to supply Google with a copy of your government-issued ID.

There seems to be a straight line from "age verification for porn" to "the end of anonymity on the internet" and Google seems to be taking quiet steps to get us there sooner rather than later.
