"President Trump is delivering on his promise to make our government more efficient," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told USA TODAY on Saturday. "American taxpayers should not be funding anti-American propaganda in the name of journalism."

USA in process of becoming Hungary, maybe Georgia.

We can hope it goes no further and does not become Russia.

shutting down of US foreign influence operations must go down as collateral damage of draining the swamp agenda. Why doesn't Trump just bring these propaganda units under his direct control, or perhaps put them under Rubio? Perhaps the staff will be rehired under reconstituted units under this new reporting line, otherwise it seems pretty senseless

Calling VoA “anti-American” is a fascinating bit of spin.

It’s unfortunate the entirety of the press room is full of feckless losers more concerned about their follower counts and engagement numbers than calling these people out for lying, but I guess the US has gotten the “journalists” it deserves.

No disagreement that it’s gotten worse lately, but the press corps has been weak for 20+ years, now (and it extends well past politics - it’s not like anyone’s holding anyone in tech accountable for anything, either).

If you see the VOA broadcast sites like NE Thailand, with large numbers of towers, including receivers, redundant power transformers, well maintained dead straight roads you could land an aircraft on, on the Laos border in the middle of nowhere, then you can't help but think it is not only broadcasting propaganda to a chunk of China but also listening in.
