In my case, since I'm only using a single API request (The Routes API ComputeRoutes method), this will mean I'd have to pay 80$ per month for what used to be covered under the 200$ monthly quota until this change. Quite a scummy move trying to wrap it up as a good thing with "$3,250 worth of free usage" which only applies if you're using every single one of their APIs.
