We fight in the same wars, are owned by the same corporations, and sit beside each other at the same international bodies.
We have broadly similar attitudes to democracy.
We share the same aversion to enforcing our borders.
We both hate the French.

I know this is meant as satire, but it reads like an absolutely savage indictment of Anglo-American culture and the state of...everything, on both sides of the Atlantic. I clicked the link expecting light snark and some faintly humorous commentary on Farage and/or Trump, and by the time I'd finished reading I was in as black a mood as the author.

Shouldn't Wales would come as part of the package but they manage fine with one Alabama so a second shouldn’t be all that much trouble have been the "we can make gloves from the children" moment?

Seriously though, we'll let you all still call London London, as long as the rest of that sceptered isle, going forward, is Airstrip One.

Yes, even in satire a focus on wealth (who exactly would benefit) and military power is something of a giveaway about the authors politics. Perhaps a Labour government gives rise to these unhealthy fantasies.
