One of the biggest selling points of YC is its networking opportunities and community support.

I'm a solo-founder looking for this experience online. An online community, providing substantial support, motivation, and skill improvement, where they can discuss challenges, gain motivation, and progress in their entrepreneurial journey.

There have been many attempts to build this, but they don’t tend to last. OnDeck is the most notable.

First, identify solo-founders you could reach out to and ask to meet them to trade learning experiences.

That’s it. Any community you join, this is the most important action you will take and the one that will matter after you’ve lost interest in that community.

You build your network.

If you need help finding people to connect with:

1. LinkedIn: search “solopreneur” and other variations.

2. X: still plenty of indie hackers to find.

If you want to add value, do a 10min podcast and invite people you’d like to meet to speak on it. Creating content is something every solo-founder needs to do more of.

You are a node in a network. Be the highest quality node you can be.

Two tips:

1. After every meeting, ask “who else would you suggest I talk to?”

Now your network building is n+1

2. Ask “who would be good to intro to you?”

Now it’s flowing both directions.

That’s it.

You’ll acquire skills, opportunities, encouragement, and the foundation you can build your career as a founder on.

Try Microconf Connect by Rob Walling — it's a Slack community and I would say it's pretty good, there are channels about your wins, asking for feedback, tools, general chatter etc.
