I fail to understand why they didn't migrate the whole history to whatever the new chat platform is. Finger crossed the data is not deleted.

Is this just to reduce the maintainenance resources for those chat archive or more that their future plans would be encumbered the legacy? Theyre doing this at the cost of removing peoples histories, the emotional log, their friendship memories, ability to relive their favorite moments together. All the dopamine kicks they get and a huge part of the social appeal and stickiness. With all the features their killing, they're removing functionality that is the core of their social success
