Ask HN: Flat world news, like NYT HN

Is there a current service that aggregates the news into an HN-style, flat representation. I guess this would be headlines only, and probably be like Reddit, but the premise is not to be social but to provide the news simply. I am aware of the CNN lite site, and RSS seems like it was this. But what is there now?
