Ask HN: Why does StartPage redirect me to another page frequently?

I'm not sure what is happening with StartPage, but it frequently redirect me to this page: https://www.startpage.com/privacy-please/ . It is so annoying. Does anyone else have the same problem?

When does this happen? When you search something? When you type startpage.com in the address bar? Do you use their addon?

After the search result appears and I click one of the search result. It will then open a new tab for the website I click, but the old tab with search result will redirect to the page I mentioned. It's annoying because when I wanted to go back to the search result and click on another website, I found the results were gone.

I don't their addon.

No. But on one of my computers, StartPage will frequently block my search with some message about my IP address submitting too many requests and accusing me of being a bot. It only ever happens on that one machine. Never on any of the others. Also annoying.

Happened to me as well. Mostly in private mode. After I submitted that I'm not a bot a few times, it blocks me less and less.
