Do I need to read a book to learn to use Linux?

I was reading askubuntu answers and everyone was like "just read online and ask help online". I did that for 1 month and what I've realized is that I am memorizing solutions rather than understanding them.

But I also realize that there'll be no books about ubuntu because they get outdated fast.

So, someone in linux forum recommended me this book.
