I can't help but notice that these articles are written in a way that suggests the proliferation of these devices is inevitable, which is not the case.

I'm more convinced that they will be everywhere, the preferred device, after using the hololens 2.

Why do you think smart glasses will not be widely used when a huge portion of society already wears dumb glasses?

I can't imagine a future where they aren't the norm. I don't know whether it's 3 years away or 20, but I'd bet it's closer to 3.

Why would you need them? What problem do they solve? I can see why I would use AR/VR glasses for specific tasks related to work or education, maybe even entertainment, but I don't see how the always-on head-camera version would help in any way.

Not only that, but once you get them on your head, everyone interacting with you will act for the camera, because from that moment on everything you do or say is being televised. Is that what you really want? And on top of that, you record other people, invading their privacy. That makes you the "glasshole".
