Putting aside the morality of this for a moment, any article about this topic that doesn't mention the importance of Larry Fink's hard-on for a company's ESG score and the role that BlackRock and other investment firms have in deciding winners and losers based on that is an incomplete treatment of this subject.

Often supporting Social Justice movements requires a moral/value claim. This may or may not align appropriately with your employees or customers. Businesses are typically not into committing market suicide so will always take this on a case by case basis.

On the other hand in a cancel culture not embracing the latest Social Justice issue may actually be a quicker route to forced market suicide.
