Ask HN: Non-technical considerations for Low-touch SaaS

I'm thinking of launching a commercial library for handling specialized tasks in applications. Billing would be on a subscription basis (monthly/annually with discount), probably based on the number of instances/seats.

I have an engineering background, and some experience in running a business with mainly domestic customers.

What kind of complexity and overhead will I incur once I start selling globally? My hope was that I could delegate all the billing complexities (namely VAT) to a service like Stripe. But apparently they still require VAT registration in all countries where the software could be purchased.

In the beginning it would be just me, and I'd like to be able to focus fully on product development.

Any helpful inputs or pointers are much appreciated.
