Ask HN: What do you think of a founder's apprentice position?

I'm interested in working with an early stage venture with a strong founding team, as an opportunity to learn and as a way to get my foot in the door with the industry in SF. I'm looking to get involved, and even work for free (say 1-2 months) for an opportunity to get involved.

My questions are: Do you think this is a position that start ups could benefit from and would be open to?

Do you have any advice on how to approach them?

Any in particular that could use this?
