Ask HN: Entry Points for AR/VR?

I’m an experienced web designer and developer with degree in Computer Science and design works featured in galleries.

I found the web / apps scene quite boring and looking for a change. Any ideas where one can enter the VR/AR scene?

Does the programming and UI/UX skills really matter here or a different mindset is needed?

Most of all, is there a Hacker News like community for AR/VR?
