Thanks for posting! I'm the creator of Paced Email. I wasn't expecting it to be shared so quickly to Hacker News. A prominent dev Tweeted about it today and the site had a healthy footfall. Paced Email is definitely an MVP, but it's a solid one. I have many more features to add and would love to hear your feedback on it as it stands.

What it does:

Paced Email aims to help reduce distraction in your inbox. By batching up frequent emails into paced summaries, you’re able to concentrate more effectively.

How it works:

  - Grab your username
  - Create programmable email aliases on the fly
  - Use your aliases on sites that send you emails too frequently
  - Get a single email containing all the emails received

Examples:

  johndoe.shopify@daily.paced.email
  johndoe.stripe@weekly.paced.email
  johndoe.github@monthly.paced.email

Great idea, I've signed up already.

I have a pretty obvious feature request: I'd like to be able to pace weekly mails to a specific day of the week. I receive a couple of interesting newsletters, but they tend to arrive distributed all over the week and I'd prefer to receive them all for the weekend, i.e. Friday night.

So extending your original idea one could add more specific terms in your subdomain hierarchy. I.e. 19.friday.weekly.paced.email or 7pm.friday.weekly.paced.email.

I assume you should record the user's timezone on sign-up maybe? Or encode it too in a subdomain. I'm not sure which would be more consistent/simple idea...

I've you'd like to implement full cron schedules I'd assume you'd have to replace the wildcard * symbol somehow, but that seems more like an advanced/geek future and would have less appeal for mainstream users.

Hey kossmoboleat, thanks for signing up. I just found your reply. Not sure if you'll see this, but I do have some features on the horizon to accomplish this.

As you suggested, I will be allowing users to add their time zone and then a bit of UI for you to select day/hour for each of the periods supported. This is going to be pretty much next on the roadmap.
