Ask HN: Did sites like Twitter, FB, Reddit care about data at the start?
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=20263284I always assumed making something like facebook, twitter, or Reddit was more of a fun project that blew up and became a hit. Did they have the foresight to see that data would be this valuable of a commodity? I always likened the enjoyment of a reddit or a twitter to the same enjoyment of a forum I'd frequent. And the moment, it stopped being enjoyable I just moved on to something different.
(I just recalled the Zuckerberg interview where he got grilled about Data)
