Do you need a business plan in order to pitch to VCs?

do you need business plan to get attention of vc? I want to pitch to VC but I dont have business plan. Will there fund a one man team? How did the digg or facebook guy get them to fund his company. What is best for me to do? Anyone ever done this before?
