I was thinking about a way to rid the internet of repetitive ads that follow you around aka targeted ads. UBlock Origin already does a great job of blocking ads. An enhancement of this plugin could be to keep a count of the number of times an ad is shown for a certain product P. A companion app called Spiter on Android or iOS will have a feature to use the camera to scan products at a store. When you go on a shopping trip, you scan every product using Spiter before adding it to your shopping cart. If you were shown(or attempted to be shown) more than a threshold number of ads Spiter will beep. Your objective is whenever Spiter beeps you don't add the product to the cart but instead add a competing product to your cart. By doing this the marketing budget spent on P will actually benefit P's competitors. This will dis-incentivize P's company from spending too much money on marketing using ads.
