Ask HN: Co-founder equity question: Always even split?
https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=1753964Assume "Joe" founds a startup, works on it for several months, writes the code, and gets the website up and running.
Then, Joe finds a biz-dev cofounder. They are deciding the equity split.
Should Joe and the cofounder split the company evenly, or does the fact that Joe founded it and worked on it for several months mean that Joe gets more?
What's the etiquette/precedent for this?
