Ask HN: Common tech career moves?

What are some common career moves for tech workers? As in, a jump from Operations Engineer > Devops Engineer is a fairly common move as far as I can tell, and often Developers can end up in Project Management.

Background: As a devops engineer who hates being on call, I'm looking at related fields and wondering the kinds of role transitions that people have seen happen (or made happen themselves!)
