Ask HN: Should we release update with new branding?

Hey,

I joined a company where the product was very poorly executed. The initial release was crashing and hard to use, and a lot of people would register only to never return. But I must say, that still there are few users that keep using our software.

We worked hard for past couple months and in 2 months we should be able to release a very solid update. I'm not sure if we should stick with the old name / branding or should roll out as an entirely new product.

Did anyone have similar problem? What's your experience?
