Best sharepoint alternative?

I keep having all these people trying to throw money at me to create sharepoint alternatives, but it's just not my game. I get the question so often I''m going to cast an auto email with a list of best options.

The minimum requirement be that companies can run the technology internally with great security and great search capabilities on many document formats.

Although I could just do some internet research, I value this communities opinion/judgment more than free floating outdated internet sales crap. So if you have suggestions please reply with the reason why you think it's the best (or better than sharepoint).
