Ask HN: At what level of complexity do you consider writing a DSL?

I've been working on a project with ever-growing requirements, and as a consequence the codebase has been growing ugly and gross. I've been toying with the idea of creating a simple DSL to abstract away a lot of the clutter.

Does anyone here have a good rule thumb for when it might be time to create a DSL?
