Ask HN: Tools for creating reactive documents

I have little experience with JS / webdev. I'm a starting PhD student and I do my work mostly in Python / Matlab.

I wrote some documents with Tangle.js[1] to share with colleagues, and I liked it, but I got stuck every now and then and I missed more tutorials / documentation. I'm looking therefore for tools similar to Tangle, but that are actively maintained or have a healthy community of users.

Does anyone have suggestions on alternative tools for creating reactive documents? Examples are very welcome.
